Girl Noticed

A series of detailed photorealistic charcoal portraits created as large exterior murals by artist Lori Pratico depicting a diverse group of girls and women of all ages. Each mural will depict one individual in charcoal which will fade away over time. Depending on weather conditions, murals can last days, weeks or months. This representing the intention of the project, which is: “If gone unnoticed, all what was there may fade away, disappear, and never be seen.”

    I would like to nominate 2 beautiful hearted women of Indian Head Md. Rachael Ashby & Tara Sleckmann.

    Rachael has done so much as a teacher for the 3’s program at Indian Head Elementary. She takes her position as more than a teacher, but as a confidant, mentor and most of all friend. She values the children as if they were her own. When the children are going through something she is going through something. She has raised money for families in need. You will never hear hear her complain about her position, but you will hear her overjoyed; no matter what is thrown at her. Rachael is an all amazing great person.

    Tara, has made the women and men of Indian Head feel beautiful! She is a beautiful spirit and it shows through the artistry of her pictures. She has amazing prices when it comes to capturing those special moments in your life. She recently lost her mother and you would have never known due to her captivating smile when you meet her. She persevered through all her short comings. She definitely sees the Power of Art.

      Thank you for your beautiful nominations. I have chosen 3 young women for the mural on Saturday but I encourage you to share your nomination with Rachael and Tara, and please join me during the mural event. I would love to meet and notice the three of you. I’d also love to see Tara’s photos. I hope she’ll bring her camera!
