The artist…

Watch this video c/o Mike Huet Lime Digital Agency to learn about Lori Pratico’s journey as an artist and how Girl Noticed came to be.

Why Girl Noticed?

At the age of 7, I was a fearless, jump from the highest step, climb the biggest tree, scraped knees, no one messes with me kind of kid. I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but looking back it becomes clear why this wide-eyed, hopeful, full of spirit and guts kid all of a sudden was afraid of everything. The steps I once jumped from, now led to the house where I never quite felt good enough. My accomplishments seemed insignificant and my dreams were dismissed. My changing body brought attention that was neither asked for nor wanted and left me feeling ashamed and small.

I was a lucky one, because I held on to a flicker of that fearless, determined child within me. As I grew older, I began to realize that the opinions and judgments of others did not define my worth or determine my capabilities. I started to surround myself with people who uplifted and supported me, who believed in my dreams and encouraged me to pursue them. I learned to embrace my changing body, to see it as a vessel of strength and resilience. Rather than feeling ashamed, I began to appreciate the uniqueness and beauty in my own skin. I started to focus on my accomplishments, no matter how small they seemed, and celebrated each step forward.

It wasn’t an easy journey, there were setbacks and moments of self-doubt along the way. But I refused to let fear hold me back from chasing after my dreams. I pushed myself to step out of my comfort zone, to take risks and face my fears head-on, and gradually, my spirit began to shine brighter than ever before. I reclaimed my confidence and allowed myself to be vulnerable, knowing that it is through vulnerability that true strength is found. I discovered the power within me to overcome obstacles and achieve things I once believed were impossible.

Unfortunately the reality is that not all girls have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. Some girls experience the loss of their spirit and hope at a young age, while others may face it later in life when societal pressures and expectations become overwhelming. Society often places emphasis on youth and perfection, dismissing the value and self-worth of those who do not fit into narrow standards. Many girls may go unnoticed and unappreciated, never receiving the acknowledgment and celebration they deserve. Girl Noticed calls for a change in mindset, urging society to recognize and appreciate the uniqueness and potential in every girl. No girl should be left unnoticed, as every day that goes by without recognition is a day wasted.
